Making The World A Safe Haven (#278)

Hello #ladiesofhives, happy new week, and welcome to my blog. Among the two prompts from @priyanarc, I am happy to provide feedback on the second question.


What simple joy do you think the world needs more of?

We always clamour for peaceful co-existence in the world, but if there is no safety, there might not be peace. Therefore, left for me, safety is first. It is more than providing armed forces. It starts from our individual mindsets. There is a popular saying that when it is not safe, don’t do it. However, a lot of people feel they have no obligation to create awareness about safety or even to do safe things. They eat anything, anyhow, go anywhere at any time, and engage in activities and actions that are not safe, thus making the world a scary and unsafe place for existence.

Therefore, for me, making this world a safe place is a simple joy I think we need more of. Imagine walking down the staircase of your house and ignoring a banana peel on the floor. The next thing you hear is the shouts and screams of your little lad falling heavily and sustaining a fatal injury because of safety issues. It will make the individual live in regret, knowing fully well that the accident would have been averted if the banana peel had been removed.

Secondly, in different factories, there is no full compliance in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), making employees prone to incidents. Some have sustained permanent disability in their course of duty.

Furthermore, the emission of carbon monoxide, gas flaring, and some chemicals to the air from manufacturing firms has allegedly caused some airborne diseases. It has also damaged the ecosystem, leading to poor agricultural harvests and making the soil acidic for farming. These are the kind of things witnessed in the oil-producing areas in my country of origin. It has caused a series of tensions between the government and those communities. The world and its inhabitants need to always be safe.

Additionally, the world has been on the brink of burning with some of the superpowers engulfed in serious battle and warfare, there have been accusations and counter-accusations, and some level of mortality, making the world porous with wars and rumours of wars.

We need safety, we need to co-exist without fear. We need to look after and care for each other. That way, we would make the world a better, safer, and happier place. Therefore, making the world a better place through safety practices and living would
