My participation in the Phone Photography Contest! - #73: Saying goodbye to the great purple glory tree [Eng/Esp]
Greetings again, friends of Fell Good. Today I write these lines filled with relief and joy. It's the kind of happiness you can only experience when you finish your teaching activities and can finally go on summer vacation. If you've followed my previous posts, you'll surely remember how I vented in this space about all the difficulties I had to overcome to successfully complete my laboratory class. In the end, we managed to overcome all those difficulties, and just yesterday I went to simply hand in my course grades and then ran off to enjoy my vacation.
I left the faculty through the main entrance towards the Faculty of Pharmacy and there I found one of the most exceptional spectacle that I have been able to witness in recent weeks and that I wanted to share with you in this contest #73 of Phone Photography: The great purple glory tree! As a biologist of course I know this shrub very well, it is Tibouchina granulosa but I like the name purple glory tree better, although it may not seem like it, it is a shrub or small tree but it is possible, by modifying the irrigation and nutrient conditions, to make it grow into the large tree that you see in the photograph that I took with my cell phone.

This small tree is common in the tropics, mainly found in the Amazonian shield, but given its potential as an ornamental tree, we can see it in coastal areas, and no wonder. When it blooms, it does so in a grand manner, with multiple 5-petal flowers that can be fuchsia or purple and completely cover the tree canopy, giving it that impressive appearance. It's, so to speak, the sakuras or Latin American cherry trees. I think this was a way for the university to say goodbye to us, since vacations are collective, meaning by law, professors, administrative staff, and workers must take them, so for the next two months the university will be completely alone. So, just before we retire, the purple glory tree bids us farewell with this beautiful bloom, as dusk begins to fall on my University City.

Saludos nuevamente amigos de Fell Good hoy les escribo estas lineas lleno de alivio y alegría, es el tipo de felicidad que solo puedes tener cuando terminas tus actividades de docencia y finalmente puedes irte de vacaciones de verano. Si has seguido mis publicaciones anteriores seguramente recordarás como me desahogaba en este espacio de todas las dificultades que tuve que sortear para llevar a buen término mi clase de Laboratorio. Al final logramos superar todas esas dificultades y justo ayer fui únicamente a entregar las calificaciones del curso para luego salir corriendo a disfrutar de mis vacaciones.
Salí de la facultad por la entrada principal en dirección a la Facultad de Farmacia y alli encontré uno de los espectáculo más excepcionales que he podido precenciar estas últimas semanas y que he querido compartir con ustedes en este concurso #73 de Phone Photography: El gran árbol de gloria púrpura! Como biólogo por supuesto conozco muy bien este arbusto, es Tibouchina granulosa pero me gusta más el nombre de árbol de gloria púrpura, aunque no lo parezca este es un arbusto o árbol pequeño pero es posible, modificando las condiciones de riego y nutrientes hacerlo crecer por el gran árbol que ves en la fotografía que le hice con el móvil.

Este pequeño árbol es común del trópico principalmente se encuentra en el escudo amazónico, pero dado el potencial como arbol ornameltal lo podemos ver en zonas costeras y no es para menos, cuando florea lo hace engrande, con múltiple flores de 5 pétalos que pueden ser de color fucsia o morado y cubren completamente la copa arbórea dando esa impresionante apariencia, es por decirlo de alguna manera los sakuras o árboles de Cerezos latinoamericanos. Creo que esta fue una forma que tuvo la universidad de despedirse de nosotros, ya que las vacaciones son colectivas, es decir por ley debemos tomarlas tanto profesores, empleados administrativos y obreros, por lo que en los próximos 2 meses la universidad estará completamente sola. Así que justo antes de retirarnos el árbol de gloria púrpura nos despide con esta hermosa floración, mientras comienza a caer el crepúsculo en mi Ciudad Universitaria.
Bien amigos, espero que les haya gusto mi aporte para este genial concurso. Vi en la fotografía de este árbol la esencia de esta comunidad, porque al final del día lo importante es sentirse bien. Nos vemos en un próximo Phone Photography! saludos.

Me faltó pasar por aquí anoche, ese arbusto está precioso y las fotos también 📷. Creo que te llevarías muy bien con un familiar mío, no tengo claro si estudió lo mismo que tú, pero ella se encarga de modificar la genética de las plantas, sé que es una carrera que muy poca gente estudia que tiene que ver con eso.
