My #BeerSaturday Challenge! Week 446: A beer I didn't know I needed: Peregrina Honey Light! [Eng/Esp]
What's up, Beer community? Welcome to my contribution to this week's #BeerSaturday challenge, which would be #446. As usual, I took advantage of every Saturday night, meeting up with my Discord friends to enjoy a good beer while we chatted and dueled in our favorite game: Splinterlands! For this post, I wanted to continue the series on Peregrina beers, a small brewery that started as a small craft beer venture and has carved out a niche for itself in the competitive Venezuelan market. Below, in the images, you'll find the previous reviews, but before we begin, I want to extend an invitation to my dear friend @zandra1975! Like me, she's a Caribbean woman from the hot climate, so I'm sure she'll join this initiative and share a good beer representative of her country with us.

Well, friends, this is the third installment in this Peregrina beer series. I was very excited to discover the different varieties of this beer, especially after learning that its purpose is to continue the tradition of craft beer as it began in Colonia Tovar (the main German community in Aragua State, Venezuela). This prompted me to get hold of all the varieties, taste them, and decide which one is my favorite. This time, I want to review the Peregrina Honey Light.
Of all the beers from this brand that I bought, this one in particular appealed to me for two reasons. The first is the design of the packaging. In my posts, I've always highlighted this aspect of Peregrina bottles, but in this case, the label design with yellow beehives on a black background and white lettering gives it a very attractive style, and I must admit it caught my eye from the first moment. The second thing was its alcohol content, which is quite low (3.5%), and the style of this beer, which according to the brewery itself is a kind of smooth lager with a touch of honey without being cloying. This is a vestige of the brand's artisanal tradition, and my first thought was that it would be ideal for spending time with friends or to accompany a meal like a barbecue.
I initially thought of the grill and actually bought some German sausages, but when it came time to prepare them, my best friend had brought a bourbon whiskey, and the choice was quite clear: the beer would have to wait. So I chose this moment with my Discord friends to enjoy this beer, and I started by opening the bottle, pouring it into my mug, and appreciating the golden color of this beer, which, curiously, produced little foam, but at least it was cold enough, which is how I like to drink them.

Taking the first sips of this beer, the first thing I noticed was that smooth touch of honey without being cloying; its bitterness is quite low, so compared to commercial brands I could say it's a light version of the main national brands (Polar, Solera and Regional Light), but with its own identity.
While I was already in the middle of a Splinterlands mini-tournament with my friends, I opened the second bottle, which I had been chilling in the freezer. We confirmed that this beer isn't very foamy, but upon tasting it, it's undeniably refreshing, light on the palate, and in short, I could easily drink several bottles of this beer without the alcohol having a significant effect. Therefore, I can confirm that this type of beer is ideal for two things: pairing with certain foods or socializing with friends.
With Honey Light, we've now tried three Peregrina beers, each with its own distinct character, highlighting this brewery's ambition to offer a wide range of flavors so we can choose our favorite. In short, this beer was everything I expected from a lager "customized" in the Peregrina style: pale yellow in color, with a smooth bitterness and a touch of sweetness from pure honey, it's one of my favorites so far, along with German Pills (both rated 8.5). Bienvenidos a mi aporte al #BeerSaturday challenge de esta semana que sería la #446 y como es costumbre aproveche cada sábado en la noche, reunido con mis amigos del discord para degustar de una buena cerveza mientras charlamos y dueliamos en nuestro juego favorito: Splinterlands! Para este post he querido darle continuidad a la serie de cervezas de marca Peregrina, una pequeña cervecería que comenzó como un pequeño emprendimiento de cerveza artesanal hasta hacerse un espacio en el competitivo mercado venezolano. Abajo, en las imágenes, te dejo las reseña anteriores, pero antes de comenzar quiero extender la invitación a mi estimada @zandra1975! Ella como yo, es una caribeña de tierras calientes así que estoy seguro que se incorporará a esta iniciativa y nos compartirá una buena cerveza representativa de su país.

Bien amigos, esta sería la tercera parte de esta serie de cervezas Peregrina, estaba muy emocionado por descubrir las distintas presentaciones de esta cerveza, al enterarme que su propósito es darle continuidad a la tradición de la cerveza artesanal tal y como se inició en la Colonia Tovar (que es el principal enclave de la colonia alemana en el Edo. Aragua Venezuela), me anime a conseguir todas sus presentaciones, degustarlas y decidir cual de ellas es mi favorita. En esta ocasión quiero reseñarte la cerveza Peregrina tipo Honey Light.
De todas las cervezas de esta marca que compre, ésta en particular me gustó por 2 razones, la primera es el diseño de esta presentación, en las publicaciones siempre he destacado este apartado en las botellas Peregrina pero en este caso, ese diseño de la etiqueta con colmenas amarillas con fondo negro y letras blancas le da un estilo bastante atractivo y debo reconocer que me atrajo desde el primer momento. Lo segundo fue su grado alcohólico que es bastante bajo (3.5%) y el estilo de esta cerveza que según la misma cervecería es una especie de lager suave con un toque de miel sin ser empalagosa, esto es un vestigio de la tradición artesanal de la marca y lo primero que pensé fue que sería ideal para pasar un rato con amigos o para acompañar una comida como un asado.
Pensé primero en la parrilla y de hecho compre unas salchichas alemanas pero al momento de prepararlas mi mejor amigo había llevado un whisky bourbon y la elección fue bastante clara, la cerveza tendría que esperar. Entonces escogí este momento con mis amistades de discord para degustar esta cerveza, y empecé destapando la cerveza, sirviéndolo en mi tarro y comencé apreciar el color dorado de esta cerveza que curiosamente generó poca espuma pero al menos estaba lo suficientemente fría que es como me gusta probarlas.

Al dar los primeros sorbos a esta cerveza, lo primero que confirmé fue ese toque suave de la miel sin ser algo empalagoso, su amargor es bastante bajo por lo que en comparación a marcas comerciales podría decir que es una versión light de las principales marcas nacionales (Polar, Solera y Regional light), pero con una identidad propia.
Mientras ya estaba en pleno duelo con mis compañeros en mini torneo de Splinterlands abrí la segunda botella que ya tenía enfriando en el congelador. Confirmamos que no es muy espumosa esta cerveza pero al probarla es indudablemente refrescante, ligera en boca y en resumen fácilmente podría tomarme varias botellas de esta cerveza sin que el grado alcohólico tenga un efecto importante, por lo que confirmo que este tipo de cerveza es ideal para 2 cosas: acompañar con ciertas comidas o para socializar con amigos.
Con Honey Light ya son 3 las resentaciones que hemos probado de la cerveza Peregrina y cada una de ellas tiene su propia identidad, lo que destaca las ambiciones de esta marca de cervezas para traernos una amplia gama de sabores con las cuales elegir nuestro tipo favorito. En resumen esta cerveza era todo lo que esperaba de una lager "customizada" al estilo Peregrina: con un color amarillo pálido, de amargor suave y un toque dulce producto de la miel pura de abeja, hacen que coloque a esta presentación de cerveza junto a la German Pills con un 8.5 son hasta ahora mis presentaciones favoritas. Aún quedan 2 presentaciones más de esta interesante marca, espero próximamente traerles la siguiente reseña amigos. Saludos!
