ANOTHER NIGHT OF FEAR AND TERROR WITH ... DEAD SPACE 2023

After the long night of terror described in the last Dead Space - related post published about a week ago, I continued playing that game from time to time, but in much smaller doses. Stuff I'm about to show you today wasn't "photographed" in just one night, but I like the title ANOTHER NIGHT OF FEAR AND ... etc, so, yeah, it's slightly misleading, but who cares? I, most certainly don't.

In today's post, I'm about to show you some screenshots I took along the way.

This time, the focus will be mainly on monsters.

Partially becouse as the game progressed, the necromorph monstrosities got more varied and numerous, but the most important reason is that I realised how detrimental the motion blur option is to screenshots. Especially to screenshots of fast-paced action.

When I turned the motion blur off, catching a clean shot of a monster in action got much easier.

Most monsters weren't too hard to destroy, I mean there were very resilient to mindless attacks, but their weaknesses were fairly obvious, so with just a bit of tactical thinking, killing them didn't require more than a bare minimum of frustration. Most were like that, but ...

... but the one shown in this picture seemed invincible for a relatively long time. Whatever weapon I used on him, no matter what part of his body I turned into bloody chunks of putrid, infected meat, he kept regenerating completely and chasing me across the room.

The room in question was a cryogenic laboratory ...

... with some interesting specimens frozen in big tanks.

It took me quite a bit to realize that the only chance to get rid of this ugly, undead thing is to freeze it.

It looks obvious in hindsight, but last night, in the fervor of the fight, I kept running around for long, tense minutes with no idea what to do. And the regenerating degeneration shown in the above picture wasn't the only thing that tried to kill me on that occasion ...

... nope, some fairly small but dangerous bloodsuckers were there too.

Here you can see all those enemies in one screenshot.

At some point, after tons of blood, guts, and gore ...

... I reached a room in which I could make some repairs and modifications on my weapons, and there I suddenly realized, after many hours of playing, that I have some cool spacesuits I can use.

They were always avaliable in storage, but I didn't notice that option.

At that point, the game, quite unexpectedly, turned from horror to some sort of fashion event.

After all the shooting and running ...

... trying the suits was a nice change of pace.

I'll show you all my space suits in this post.

There is plenty of interesting design in this game.

This is the weirdest fashion creation I can wear.

The suit is merged with patches of infected guts and flesh.

It's an interesting creation, probably very good for camouflage.

This one looks fairly ordinary at first sight, but it is the second weirdest, actually.

Please take notice of the chopped hands attached to the helmet.

This is yet another ordinary suit paired with an ordinary helmet.

And that's it, the fashion show ends here ...

... but the post goes on.

The thing shown in this screenshot, and quite a few others I prepared today, was once a person working on the spaceship.

It was glued to the floor, and looked sad and harmless at first sight, but ...

... but it was releasing lethal gases that can kill you very quickly ...

... so it had to be eliminated.

I can't remember the reason right now, but I had to use a syringe filled with some chemicals to kill it.

You can see its carcass here.

In this screenshot, you can see me posing next to the vegetables in the hydroponic laboratory.

That place felt a bit like a relaxing green oasis in the midlle of an industrial hell.

The relaxation didn't last long, though ...

... becouse the necromorphs weren't too far away. It took them some time, but eventually, the monsters found me.

The thing shown in this screenshot resembles an alien bat or something like that. That thing ...

... can fly and reanimate dead people.

I mean ...

... it can turn them into monsters.

Yep, the game offers a nice variaty of interesting enemies with all kinds of behavior.

It's a great and pretty unique game.

I think it's a horror masterpiece. There's nothing silly or incompetent in it that can break the immersion and the tense atmosphere. There is so much imagination put into the creatures and the futuristic, heavy, industrial design of the spaceship's interior.

Here you can see a really enormous necromorph monstrosity. The biggest I encountered so far in the game.

It was an epic battle in zero-gravity ...

... definitely a memorable encounter.

By reading the log shown in this picture, you can learn a thing or two about the necromorphs, if you wish.

This screenshot shows one of the most colorful parts of the ship.

And that's it ...

... the post ends here - THE END.

Very cool! That red monster that you had to freeze looked like a beast to beat. Very well done! I can see how that would turn into an all night affair, once you get into a game it's hard to stop that's for sure!

That one looks awesome, I'll have to put it on my list to try out here when I have some more free time. They put some great detail in there, and it's nice that they made finding the weaknesses not all that hard. But freezing that one is the last thing I would have thought of as well. Great job!
