The value is within not upon

If the world suddenly lost the internet and all the buzzing screens went dark, I know exactly what skill I’d fall back on without hesitation, it'll be my artwork. Art has always been more than a hobby for me; it’s a part of my identity, a natural extension of how I express myself and connect with the world.

I first discovered my love for drawing when I was about six years old. Back then, it started as simple sketches on the back of my school notebooks and textbooks, sketching messy cartoons, imaginative creatures, and random doodles that brought me joy during boring classes. As I grew older, I began to take it more seriously. I remember saving up to buy my first real sketchbook and a set of colored pencils. The excitement I felt holding those new tools is something I’ll never forget.

Over time, I moved from pencil sketches to painting with acrylics, poster colors and watercolors, exploring different techniques and styles. I would spend hours in my small room, surrounded by scattered sheets of paper, brushes soaked in color, and music playing softly in the background. It was in those quiet, focused moments that I realized art was more than just something I like, it was something that was within me and I needed it.

In secondary school, I started making portrait commissions for classmates and their families. Sometimes, it was a birthday gift, other times a memorial piece. Seeing their faces light up when I handed them my finished work was incredibly rewarding. I also started painting murals on walls in my neighborhood, adding color and life to dull spaces. Those projects taught me that art has the power to transform not just physical spaces, but also people’s moods and emotions.

I have now been working on my art for over fifteen years. During this time, I have refined my skills, learned new methods, and developed my own unique style. My work is detailed and expressive I'm not being proud it's the truth, often focusing on portraits and storytelling through images. Even today, I've not stopped learning from other artists, from online resources, and from my own trial and error.

If there were no internet tomorrow, I believe my art could still support me. I could create custom portraits, paint murals for businesses and homes, design logos and signage by hand, or even teach art classes to kids and adults. There is always a market for something handmade and heartfelt, and I know my work carries that spirit.

Do I plan to get better at it? Absolutely. Art is a journey, not a destination. I want to experiment with larger canvases, try sculpting, and maybe explore textile art one day. My ultimate dream is to open my own studio and gallery space, where people can come to see my work, learn, and create their own pieces.

In a world without the internet, my art would become my voice, my livelihood, and my gift to the community. And honestly, I think that might even bring me closer to people and to the purest form of creativity cause currently AI seems to be generating art perfectly and I honestly feel cheated.
