I TOOK A NAP

There’s one simple thing that never fails to lift my mood, no matter how difficult or stressful the day gets a good refreshing nap is all it takes to set me on track.

Living in Nigeria means constantly dealing with noise, traffic, heat, and so many unexpected challenges most especially when you're situated in a place like Makurdi. From waking up earlt to school, to the stress of moving around the large campus from one lecture room to another, the daily power outages especially when you need it most, and the constant hustle to make a living sometimes it feels like there’s no room to even breathe. In the middle of all this, that short afternoon nap feels like a priceless treasure.

For me, a nap is more than just sleep; it is my way of escaping the chaos around me, even if only for a little while. It doesn’t have to be long sometimes just 30 minutes is enough to make me feel like a brand new person, there's this strength I always wake up with. I find a quiet spot in the house, maybe on the couch under the fan or near a window where the breeze flows in, I mean the cool breeze, and I just close my eyes. The moment my head touches the pillow, all the noise and worries fade away.

When I wake up, it feels like I pressed a reset button back to default. Suddenly, I have energy again. Tasks that felt heavy before now seem easier to handle. My mood brightens, and I find myself humming songs or even planning what to eat later with excitement.

People often say, “Find what makes you happy and hold on to it.” For some, it might be a favorite song, a warm plate of jollof rice, or a call from a loved one. For others, it might be dancing or spending time with friends. But for me, that simple nap is my special medicine. It reminds me that in the middle of all the stress, I can still choose peace and rest.

I believe that taking a nap is not a sign of laziness, but rather a smart way to take care of my mind and body. In a country where life moves so fast and everyone is always on the move, it is important to pause and recharge once in a while. After my nap, I feel stronger, happier, and more hopeful about the rest of the day.

So whenever you see me smiling in the afternoon for no obvious reason, just know that I have enjoyed my favorite moment

I underestimated naps until I started taking them. They always make you feel so refreshed and more energetic except the ones we take after eating heavily 😂

You'll definitely wake up more tired after eating too much

Nap keeps us on track, and in a noisy place, we will not feel too much of the noise. It appears as an interesting thing to do some times.

Thank you for sharing. Let me start trying it because I don't sleep or nap on a normal day until night that I always have a normal sleep.
