Kimchi, oh Kimchi...||[ENG &Korea]

Pleasant greetings to you all.

When I saw the Korean hive village prompt for this week, I knew that I was definitely getting onboard. Wherever food is talked about, I am bound to be there. What's a foodie without her food?

I haven't been to Korea yet but I have watched a lot of k-dramas that now, I am conversant with some Korean foods.

I especially love to watch them eat in Korean movies because then, I'll get to see different types of food arranged beautifully on the table. These foods are put in small cute bowls and it makes me wonder how they can cook all that every time they want to eat.

”Don't Koreans drink beverages with bread and scrambled eggs?”

I have once asked this question but no one gave me an answer yet. Maybe I'll need to travel over there to investigate, hehe.

I have a particular family that I am God friends with. They are Nigerians but they've lived in South Korea for many years. I got to know them through a church program and ever since, our relationship has been good.

I remember one time when they invited me to their place for lunch and when I was invited to the dining table, I was happy to see a mixture of Nigerian and Korean dishes. The Nigerian dish was basically rice but the Korean dish was Kimchi.

Immediately I heard that there was Kimchi on the table, the curious cat in me woke up. I have heard of kimchi in movies but now I'm actually going to try it out for real.

I took my plate added some rice to it, then some stew and then I added some kimchi. Let me be clear, the kimchi looked amazing but no one told me it was fermented cabbage mixed with garlic and other spices. I thought that it was going to taste like a Nigerian food and so I wolfed down on it.

You guessed right, the soury taste of the kimchi hit my taste buds and it felt kinda weird at that time but later, the flavours started making sense and I found myself asking for another serving on my plate. That was my first time trying a Korean dish but it's not going to be last, that's for sure.

The other Korean foods I would like to try are….

Bibimbap : This is a mixed rice bowl dish topped with an assortment of vegetables, meat and fried egg. I have read a lot of reviews about this food and I can't wait to try it out.

Bulgogi : This is a marinated beef dish, made with thinly sliced beef, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, and sesame oil. Who can resist a flavoured meat dish.

Jjajangmyeon: This one is noodle dish made with black bean sauce, often served with vegetables and meat or seafood.

Mandu: This is another Korean dish made of dumplings, which can be steamed, fried, or boiled, and filled with meat, kimchi, or vegetables.

When I get to Korea, they will know that someone landed because I'll try out all the foods in one day and stick to the ones that favour my taste buds.

This is it guys. My response to the #koreanhivevillage contest #4. This foodie is inviting her kind @luchyl, @rukkie and @faithwellington.

Thank you for reading.

Kimchi has a kinda of sour taste caused by the fermented cabbage and spices but that's only the first time. You'd find yourself craving it later on 😂

I've always known that Kimchi isn't so tasty. 😅 That's why I wrote in one of my posts that;

Life doesn't always serve you chocolates. Sometimes, it mixes it with Kimchi. 😂

It's nice you tried the famous Kimchi and now you know better.

Koreans sure have different varieties of food and I hope to try some, when I get the opportunity.

Yeah, it wasn't an instant pleasant taste but later, you'd begin to crave it. It is just like how one tastes bitter leaf soup for the first time but after much eating, you'd continue to crave it.

Thanks a lot sis🥰

Hehehe 😂 I haven’t seen them eat bread before in their movies I have watched.

Wow…so you’ve tasted Kimchi food? Eii…I need Korean friends here in Nigeria, too 😌

That must have been a great time spent at their place.
