Blood VS Water..... What gives?
Pleasant greetings everyone. Happy new weekš.
I guess I can say that this phrase Life is not balanced is now becoming old school. Yet the truth it holds can't be called old school at all. This is why family dramas don't bother me anymore. People who should love, care and protect their members actually turn out to be the very ones who plot and scheme against their own blood membersā¦..not surprising anymore.
Is this even news? I doubt it because If we are truthful, we know that such families exists in our society. Some are even our neighbours.
Yes, blood they claim is thicker than water but where is the thickness of that blood when a father rapes his own biological daughter or sells her off to a rich elder for money?
Where is that thickness when uncles and aunts scheme against the family of their seemingly rich brother or sister, just to claim their wealth for themselves.
What is the diameter of such thickness when betrayals stem up from within blood related members out of sheer jealousy and envy like it's a norm?
Let's face the factsā¦. Just because someone is a member of a family by blood does not guarantee loyalty, trust, devotion, care and protection. I have heard many peopleās stories who associate their successes to outsiders and non-blood members whereas their own blood family abandoned them.
Let me not point fingers afar offā¦
Personally, I have uncles and aunts who were all trained and raised to a successful height in life by my mother but today, they don't even care about my siblings and I, yet some live in the same city with us.
I remember back then, how they would always call my mum for one financial assistance or the other and she would always oblige them but after her passing, they didn't give a damn about her existing family. Not even a phone call to ask how we are fairing.
Outsiders turned friends are the ones that care for us and proudly claim us as their family.
So forgive me if I'm of the school of thought that* blood is not always thicker than water*. Sometimes, when that blood is diluted with envy, jealousy and selfishness, then there is no way it would qualify for a bond.
I lean more on the opinion that A True family are those who stand by you during your lowest points in life, helping you find your feet. They don't have to be blood related.
Does this mean we shouldn't value family ties?
This is not entirely true. There are lots of families that have proven that cliche blood is thicker than water true. They stand firm through thick and thin and nothing is capable of driving a wedge between them. In this case, I support that family should be everything. They deserve the love, trust and loyalty because they have sown it into the family, hence, it's only fair for them to reap it.
But if one comes from a toxic family, where dog eat dog and everyone is only thinking about his or her own hide, then I'll strike a balance by saying be cautious and if possible, separate from such a wicked family. The farther the better.
I am being real here and not trying to cajole anyone. Life is already tough on its own. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, only promised. So why risk your survival by trying to please the very people who would not blink when throwing you into a den of lions to save their neck?
Of course, we are to love and respect everyone whether family or not but sometimes loving from afar is better than a near kiss of betrayal.

Indeed blood is no longer thicker than water. Stranger helps and protect more than family this days. I know a person in my family who is presently working with government, using my father's school certificate, but this man don't even have any of my siblings number till date. People are wicked sha. But it's well with our souls. Thanks for sharing.
It is indeed well with us o.
Thanks for reading š¤
You're welcome.
The phrase still sticks in. And regarding families... hehe. When your heart hurts badly, and those triggers come easily to you, the people who made you that way are the ones you trust, relied on, loved, and called blood.
I do agree that whoever has a wonderful family who sticks with them should embrace those gems. But, don't you into those who don't give a shit about you.
Exactly my point sis āŗļø
Thanks for reading.
The phrase can only be used in some certain contexts and not relatable to every family. Outsiders can turn family and even oneās members would become something else. This is life we live in and we must always appreciate those who stood as family to us even when things are tough.
Es oo, that's just the solid truth.
Thanks a lpt
Thanks for sharing even family can be hostile towards same blood of their own
