Life is full of struggle

We are living in a world where there must be bills to pay, sometimes the cost of living becomes so outrageous and overwhelming, so there is a need to work hard to earn a living, Anyone who doesn't work hard will likely regret it.

Growing up wasn't easy at all, we struggled a lot just to make ends meet, but it wasn't easy at all, there were times I cried so much, my parents thought us how to make a living from our very tender age and till this moment I have been trying to save myself and my family.

I started making my own money at the age of 15, and since then, to this minute, I have been hustling just to survive.

At 15, I was working as a laborer on people's farmland in my village, and they paid me just a little token. Economy wasn't too bad then, that little money I received as payment was always enough to pay my school fees and also take care of some other things in the family.

Every Market day, I will go to the market, sell my farm produce before going to school. I had younger ones, so I was also assisting my parents in taking care of them, both physically and academically.

At some point, I became very sick, I was having serious chest pain, and the doctor confirmed that it was a result of the strenuous work that I was doing then, but unfortunately, if I stop those work how would I survive, and also assist my family? The doctor gave me medication, and I came back rested for a few days and continued my work.

When I graduated from high school, I wanted to go to the university and study nursing, but my parents and I couldn't afford that due to our financial situation, so I settled for a nursing school.

My three years of studying nursing weren't easy at all because I was still working for my school fees and taking care of some things at home.

I was thinking things would get better immediately after I graduate from school and get a well-paying job, but unfortunately, that wasn't true.

I graduated with my friend Chinonso, and we both went in search of a job. We searched for a job for over two years, and we couldn't get any good ones.

One day, my friend asked me, "Why is our life different? Why are our circumstances in life different? I am tired 😫."

*"Everything will be okay," I replied to her.

Finally, we got a job, but the salary cannot cover our bills, so I had to start some other side hustle, I started selling firewood, which was so stressful because after work, I would travel for 5 hours to where I could buy the firewood, then I would come back and arrange them in a way I can sell them and make some profit.

I did this for over 10 years, and I was making a living from it to support myself and my family.

In the year 2019, I got married and relocated, leaving my job and business behind. I thought things could have been better because I am married, but unfortunately, the reverse was the case. In fact, it was as if it got worse.
Well, I have to earn a living, so immediately it became obvious that I need to sit up, I searched and got a job, I created an online store where I sell women's and children's wear.

At some point, I became very sick and couldn't continue working secularly, so I resigned.

I increased my activities on Hive, and I also looked for other opportunities to make a living. Most times, I buy some farm produce and resell it. I also engage in the livestock business, and this has really been helpful.

One good tip that keeps me going is the fact that I always obey the adage that says Never put all your eggs in just one basket. Yes, I always try new things to see if I can make a living.
There have been so many challenges, but that doesn't stop me from trying to make a living, I'm that ambitious lady who has goals in life, and only my hard work can help me achieve those goals.

Sometimes I get scared about the future, but at the same time, I believe in myself. I have never been a lazy person, I have always tried my best to make sure I put food on my table, pay bills, and take care of my health.

Your resilience and strength of character are an inspiration. You carried a lot on your young shoulders and still push through to this day to make ends meet. On a writing note, may I suggest that you edit your posts for spelling and light punctuation and grammar errors before publishing. It would elevate your submissions. Thank you for sharing this story from your life with us here in The Ink Well.

Determination is key. Most times, life dose not always offer us what we want, but we create that From what the world offers us. Giving up half way is a choice, but staying focused is a road to victory
