waiting room of pastries

i was just sitting there. chair a bit wobbly. bag slipping off my shoulder again.
ordered my favorite pastry and they said “please wait a while” which always means longer than i expect.
so i looked around.
the table in front of me had all these trays. circles, squares, crumbs, colors.
some still warm. some already forgotten by everyone except maybe me.
my phone felt light in my hand.
i started sketching without thinking.
the girl near the counter moved. then the fan clicked. then i erased a line that wasn’t even wrong.
everything felt slow but not in a bad way.
funny how waiting can feel heavy one moment and then suddenly become soft.
like oh… this view is actually nice.
this moment is actually mine.
Before i forget this is my entry to the sketchquest contest for November
