Muchas veces en el día a día pasan muchas cosas y si bien tenemos delante nuestro, carteles con eventos y festividades, pasamos delante de ellos sin siquiera darnos cuenta. Y otras veces planeamos una salida, una caminata, ir a algún lugar en especial y dentro de esos momentos descubrimos algo especial que desconocíamos.

Eso mismo me pasó ayer, había planeado una salida especial, recorrer un lugar prácticamente desconocido para mí, al que había concurrido una sola vez, pero cuando llegué a España, y luego de siete años quería volver a ir y disfrutarlo de otra manera. Pero en el camino vi un cartel, que con tantas cosas que pasan en la vida, no había prestado atención.

Esperando el autobús que me llevaría a ese lugar, del cual ya les contaré más adelante porque tengo que volver ya que sólo recorrí la mitad, vi el cartel que publicitaba la feria anual del libro, aquí en la ciudad. Una feria que se lleva a cabo todos los años durante algunos días, generalmente en el paseo del parque, el lugar más concurrido y céntrico de la ciudad, donde se encuentra la avenida principal.

También es el lugar donde se realiza, por ejemplo, el mercadillo de navidad más grande y tantos otros eventos que contienen casetas o stands.

Many times a lot of things happen in our daily lives and although we have in front of us, posters with events and festivities, we pass in front of them without even realising it. And other times we plan an outing, a walk, go somewhere special and in those moments we discover something special that we didn't know about.

That's what happened to me yesterday, I had planned a special outing, to go to a place that was practically unknown to me, that I had been to only once, but when I arrived in Spain, and after seven years, I wanted to go there again and enjoy it in a different way. But on the way I saw a sign, which with so many things that happen in life, I had not paid attention to.

Waiting for the bus that would take me to this place, which I will tell you more about later because I have to go back since I only went half way, I saw the poster advertising the annual book fair here in the city. A fair that takes place every year for a few days, usually in the park promenade, the busiest and most central place in the city, where the main avenue is located.

It is also the place where, for example, the biggest Christmas market and many other events with stands are held.

Por lo que luego del primer paseo y ya un poco cansada de caminar tomé un atajo para llegar a la feria. Este túnel que les muestro fue restaurado el año pasado haciéndolo muy moderno, incluso, al pasar por él puedo escuchar música clásica y disfrutar de ese pequeño camino.

Este túnel esta muy cerca de la plaza de La Merced y del otro lado, al cruzarlo, nos encontraremos ya en los jardines del castillo de Alcazaba y el paseo del parque. Además de muchos otros jardines y lugares muy concurridos todos los días, pero más los domingos donde las familias disfrutan más.

Crucé varias calles que me llevaron al camino en dirección a la feria. Y siempre en los caminos, en todos, sobre todo en el centro histórico hay carteles y señalizaciones que nos indican distintos lugares emblemáticos de la ciudad.

A lo lejos podía ver las casetas blancas, pero aún me faltaba un buen tramo por caminar. Les diré que ayer caminé muchísimo, demasiado, pero feliz de poder hacerlo.

Me llamó la atención el cartel publicitario que se usó para este evento, tiene un ojo y me identifiqué con él y en muchos de los lados de los stands había varias publicidades sobre esta feria. La verdad es que me enteré muy tarde, pero al ser el último día no podía dejar de pasar. Algunas casetas estaban cerradas, otras ya tenían pocos libros, pero más o menos sólo estaban cerradas un 10% de ellas, el resto estaban en plena feria y mucha gente visitando y comprando libros.

So after the first walk and already a bit tired of walking, I took a shortcut to get to the fair. This tunnel that I show you was restored last year making it very modern, even, when passing through it I can listen to classical music and enjoy this small path.

This tunnel is very close to the Plaza de La Merced and on the other side, when you cross it, you will find yourself in the gardens of the Alcazaba castle and the Paseo del Parque. In addition to many other gardens and places very crowded every day, but more on Sundays where families enjoy more.

I crossed several streets that led me to the road in the direction of the fair. And always on the roads, in all of them, especially in the historic centre, there are signs and signposts indicating different emblematic places in the city.

In the distance I could see the white booths, but I still had a long way to go. I will tell you that yesterday I walked a lot, too much, but I was happy to be able to do it.

I was struck by the advertising poster that was used for this event, it has an eye and I identified with it and on many of the sides of the stands there were several advertisements about this fair. The truth is that I found out about it very late, but as it was the last day I couldn't miss it. Some of the stands were closed, others already had few books, but more or less only 10% of them were closed, the rest were in the middle of the fair and many people were visiting and buying books.

Realmente había mucha gente en el lugar, familias completas, grupos de amigos y hasta turistas pasando por los diversos stands, preguntando, mirando libros y muchos comprando. En esta ocasión no he comprado libros, pero me gustó ver la variedad de temas y enfoques, además de diversas ideologías y temáticas de los distintos puestos. Verdaderamente había para todos los gustos.

Pude ver varios puestos con libros infantiles, de una variedad muy grande. Incentivar la cultura literaria en los niños es muy importante, sobre todo para la formación de su vocabulario y eso me gustó mucho. De hecho, también pude ver un espacio, dentro de la misma feria donde había libros interactivos de aprendizaje y el espacio donde había coordinadores y padres con los niños haciendo distintas tareas.

Luego la variedad y cantidad de libros van desde los históricos, libros antiguos, con sus encuadernaciones fantásticas y de excelente calidad, hasta libros de arte, botánicos, de terror, misterio, novelas de todo tipo y mucho más.

There were really a lot of people in the place, whole families, groups of friends and even tourists passing through the various stands, asking questions, looking at books and many buying. On this occasion I didn't buy any books, but I enjoyed seeing the variety of themes and approaches, as well as the different ideologies and themes of the different stands. There was truly something for everyone.

I was able to see several stalls with children's books, of a very wide variety. Encouraging literary culture in children is very important, especially for the formation of their vocabulary, and I liked that very much. In fact, I was also able to see a space within the fair itself where there were interactive learning books and a space where there were coordinators and parents with the children doing different tasks.

Then the variety and quantity of books ranged from historical books, antique books, with their fantastic bindings and excellent quality, to art books, botanical books, horror, mystery, novels of all kinds and much more.

Me encantó ver la cantidad de gente abocada a la lectura algo tan fundamental para mejorar la escritura el vocabulario y la cultura. Desde que llegué he visto una sociedad muy atenta al tema de los libros y la lectura en cualquier ámbito que sea, una plaza, la playa, una cafetería y eso también hace al estilo de vida del lugar.
