Culture takes a stroll through words and photography. (EN-ES)
There are so many different forms of art and artistic expression that often combining two or more forms makes an exhibition even more brilliant, bringing with it more history and culture.

The La Malagueta cultural centre always has its doors open to culture, including photography exhibitions. I have already visited several of them, most of which are open to the public for several months. This is a great opportunity for everyone, as anyone can go and see what is on display and there is plenty of time to do so. Admission is always free. It is one of the things I like most about the city: there is a lot of art, and much of what there is to show of the culture is open to everyone and free of charge, spreading the word even further.
On this occasion, I came across something totally different from what I had been seeing and visiting. Usually, it was a photography exhibition by a well-known photographer or someone whose work was highly regarded, for example, for being the photographer of a great painter such as Picasso. But in this case, the exhibition combines phrases, poetry, photography, and art in various forms.

Many of the works on display were created especially for this exhibition, in which 16 artists participated. The exhibition was called Poetic and Narrative Fictions Behind a Camera.
Each of the artists presents phrases that are important to them from a thinker, artist or similar figure, along with their work. I can assure you that all the works are different in terms of their execution, which enriches the concept.
Throughout the exhibition, the need for fiction in life is explored, as well as how photography initially showed or wanted to show fiction, even though what was captured through the lens were realities of life. The fine line between reality and fiction is explored, as well as what fiction means to each of us.
It made me think about how often realities are disguised as fictions in the society we live in, how many things we believe to be unreal are in fact real, but try to disguise themselves in today's world for various reasons. This art exhibition makes you think about that and much more, especially in the current times and the things that are happening in the world today.

Following the indicated route, I came across demonstrations and art alongside many quotes, the very ones I am telling you are worth reading and thinking about, analysing and reflecting on. Art is not just a painting or a photograph. Poetry and many literary expressions are art, and this exhibition intermingles these diverse expressions. It is worth many people seeing what is on display. People live their daily lives on autopilot, as if they had a chip implanted, and life just passes them by. But we are thinking beings, or we should be, and that includes questioning life and what happens in it and not taking things for granted as true and established. That is what I was thinking about as I looked at the quotes you will see in this post.
There were photographs of nature, valuing the natural environment, and phrases alluding to the same thing, and not only that, but also to the simple life in that natural environment and the relationship between human beings and that environment.

The artworks used a wide variety of materials, including paper, cardboard, brass, paint, and wood. I am referring to those works that were not photographs, which depended on the point of view of each person visiting the exhibition. I could also see photographs of art expressions assembled in a large hall, also using different materials and alluding to the treatment of pyroplastics.
With every step I took, it became clear in different ways how society often needs fiction, in history, to demonstrate how incomplete it is. Fiction is often related to simulations.

On a large wall space, I found a bunch of circles, as if they were reminders, and each one had a word on it. Each one made me think, and I stopped for a moment to read several of them, realising how important those words were. I rescue dreams, thoughts and spirit. This great work was called “The Ubiquity of Images”.
Although it was captured on a wall, it leads us to reflect on what fiction means to us.
More phrases came to me, alluding to memories and the relationship with emotions. And there were always works around them that were like related graphics. Photography has always been present; I have always seen it as art, but throughout history this has been questioned.

Many works also consisted of very well-executed collages, and there were many of them, superimpositions of images and cut-outs that formed something totally new and original. Above all, it was very interesting for me to see some fabulous 3D collages.
This art exhibition intertwined poetry, narrative and phrases with art in various forms, techniques and materials, and all of this leads to great reflections. Thus, art has an even greater purpose than viewing a photograph, painting or representation; it makes you think, and I believe that is very important.
Thank you very much for joining me today. I send my warmest regards to all of you. See you soon.
