Venezuela is one of the countries with the greatest variety of bird species in the world, ranking 6th or 7th globally. This is due to its diverse range of climates, including coasts, jungles, plains, and more.

For this reason, we can find beautiful birds of prey such as the Care-care (Caracara plancus), also known in other regions as the Carancho. It is one of the most distinctive and adaptable birds of prey in Venezuela. Although it belongs to the falcon family (Falconidae), its behavior and appearance make it unique.

Unlike other falcons that hunt primarily in the air, the Care-care is an all-terrain opportunist. It is very common to see it walking or running along the ground searching for food, thanks to its long and strong legs.

It is a scavenger (cleaning the fields of dead animals), but it also hunts small mammals, reptiles, insects, and can even steal food from other birds (kleptoparasitism).

Venezuela es uno de los paises con mayor variedad de especies de aves del mundo, esta en el puesto 6 o 7 del mundo y esto es debido a su variedad de climas donde poseemos, costa, selva y llanos, etc

Es por esto que podemos encontrar bellas aves de presa como el Care-care (Caracara plancus), también conocido en otras regiones como Carancho, es una de las aves de presa más distintivas y adaptables de Venezuela. Aunque pertenece a la familia de los halcones (Falconidae), su comportamiento y aspecto lo hacen único.

A diferencia de otros halcones que cazan principalmente en el aire, el Care-care es un oportunista todoterreno. Es muy común verlo caminando o corriendo por el suelo buscando alimento, gracias a sus patas largas y fuertes.

Es carroñero (limpia los campos de animales muertos), pero también caza pequeños mamíferos, reptiles, insectos e incluso puede robar comida a otras aves (cleptoparasitismo).
