Desde niña siempre me ha encantado la navidad, siempre vi estas fechas como algo que hace cambiar al mundo, todo parece percibirse de una forma totalmente distinta, el mundo se siente completamente diferente. Aunque debo confesar que no tuve las mejores celebraciones de navidad ya que crecí en un entorno familiar terrible, pero las pocas navidades donde no hubo violencia las disfrute al máximo, fueron las mejores. Y desde que soy madre comencé a amar aun mas la navidad y siempre intento que esta época sea igual de especial para mi hijo, pero esta vez mejor ya que jamás le he hecho sentir triste en una celebración tan importante. -

Ever since I was a child, I've always loved Christmas. I've always seen this time of year as something that changes the world; everything seems to be perceived in a completely different way, the world feels entirely different. Although I must confess that I didn't have the best Christmas celebrations since I grew up in a terrible family environment, the few Christmases where there was no violence I enjoyed to the fullest; they were the best. And since becoming a mother, I've begun to love Christmas even more, and I always try to make this time just as special for my son, but this time even better, since I've never made him feel sad during such an important celebration.

Y eso me ha hecho valorar y disfrutar muchas cosas de la navidad, son tantas que no puedo explicarlo todo con palabras porque hay cosas que sencillamente solo estan en mi mente y mi manera de ver el mundo. Pero intentare explicarles.

And that has made me appreciate and enjoy many things about Christmas; there are so many that I can't explain them all in words because some things simply exist only in my mind and my way of seeing the world. But I'll try to explain.

Disfruto ver las calles decoradas, incluso ver luces de navidad en una ventana me llena de alegría y esperanza, mis navidades se sienten muy intensas porque me traen mucha nostalgia de diferentes etapas de mi vida y ver luces en las calles me recuerda las noches que jugaba en la casa de mi abuela donde hasta los postes de luz tenían luces de navidad, tambien recuerdo las decoraciones extravagantes que hacían en los edificios donde vivía con mi mama, no había un departamento sin sus luces navideñas en la ventana, me encantaba sentarme de noche en el patio a ver los edificios.

I enjoy seeing the decorated streets; even seeing Christmas lights in a window fills me with joy and hope. My Christmases feel very intense because they bring back a lot of nostalgia for different stages of my life, and seeing lights in the streets reminds me of the nights I played at my grandmother's house where even the lampposts had Christmas lights. I also remember the extravagant decorations they put up in the buildings where I lived with my mother; there wasn't an apartment without its Christmas lights in the window. I loved sitting at night in the courtyard watching the buildings.

Disfruto la comida, en especial la comida típica navideña de mi país, la cual me parece deliciosa pero tambien aprovechamos de comprar otras cosas y comer como locos en navidad.

I enjoy food, especially the typical Christmas food from my country, which I find delicious, but we also take the opportunity to buy other things and eat like crazy at Christmas.

Disfruto celebrar el doble porque mi hijo justamente cumple años en diciembre y siempre hemos intentado que disfrute cada año de alguna u otra forma, hacerle su día super especial

I enjoy celebrating twice as much because my son's birthday is in December, and we've always tried to make sure he enjoys each year in one way or another, making his day super special.

Y me hace feliz compartir en familia, algunos años con la familia de mi esposo y las otras veces con mi mama en nuestra casa, me encanta tener a mi mama aquí porque siento que vuelvo a vivir mis antiguas navidades pero de una manera diferente, por cierto, la chica de esta foto es la tía de mi esposo no es mi mamá jaja

And it makes me happy to spend time with my family, some years with my husband's family and other times with my mom at our house. I love having my mom here because I feel like I'm reliving my old Christmases, but in a different way. By the way, the girl in this photo is my husband's aunt, not my mom, haha.

Y aunque mis navidades han estado marcadas por eventos sumamente traumáticos he aprendido a soltar eso y a volver a amar la navidad a pesar de los días oscuros que me traen malos recuerdos, es irónico que justo en este mes que tanto me gusta, yo perdí a mi padre. Pero siendo sincera creo que fue lo mejor que pudo haber pasado.

And although my Christmases have been marked by extremely traumatic events, I've learned to let go of that and to love Christmas again despite the dark days that bring back bad memories. It's ironic that in this month that I love so much, I lost my father. But honestly, I think it was the best thing that could have happened.
