Hoy me llamo mucho la atención este tema porque el tema del trabajo ha sido bastante complicado para mi estos últimos años… Desde hace 8 años comencé a trabajar desde casa, antes solía trabajar en una oficina, pero nunca me gusto del todo la idea de todos los días tener que pasar estrés en la calle, socializar, una rutina super agotadora, Caracas es una ciudad caótica y para llegar a casa tardaba mucho tiempo, a veces llegaba a las 10 de la noche cuando salía de mi trabajo a las 6 pm, y no era por que vivía lejos, de hecho trabajaba en un lugar que solamente con tomar un carro llegaría a casa pero las colas que se hacían en la parada de taxis era horrible, muy largas, eran taxis económicos que te dejaban en la puerta de tu casa, para mi era la opción mas segura pero a la vez me exponía tan tarde en esa cola.

This topic really caught my attention today because work has been quite challenging for me these past few years… Eight years ago, I started working from home. Before that, I used to work in an office, but I never really liked the idea of having to deal with the stress of commuting every day, socializing, and a super exhausting routine. Caracas is a chaotic city, and it took me a long time to get home. Sometimes I wouldn’t get home until 10 p.m. even though I left work at 6 p.m., and it wasn’t because I lived far away— in fact, I worked in a place where I could get home just by taking a taxi, but the lines at the taxi stand were horrible—very long. They were economy taxis that dropped you off right at your doorstep; for me, it was the safest option, but at the same time, it left me exposed so late at night in that line.
Después que mi hijo nació, me mude con mi esposo y fueron meses muy difíciles, justamente estábamos en una de las peores crisis del país, comíamos lo que podíamos, estábamos extremadamente delgados y mi esposo trabajaba por miserias, asi fue como descubrí trabajos en línea, ya que no podía dejar a mi hijo solo, me tocaba trabajar desde casa siendo una especie de secretaria de un señor de España, me fue bastante bien en ese trabajo, asi que comencé a ganar un sueldo bastante decente y pudimos salir adelante. Desde ese momento me di cuenta que trabajar desde casa definitivamente era lo mío, es decir, no tenía que pasar estrés en la calle, no tenía que tener interacción humana cara a cara, podía estar en la comodidad de mi hogar encargarme del trabajo y al mismo tiempo una que otra cosa en casa. Para mi es lo mejor,.
After my son was born, I moved in with my husband, and those were very difficult months. We were right in the middle of one of the country’s worst crises; we ate whatever we could, we were extremely thin, and my husband was working for a pittance. That’s how I discovered online jobs, since I couldn’t leave my son alone. I had to work from home as a sort of secretary for a man in Spain. I did quite well in that job, so I started earning a pretty decent salary, and we were able to get by. From that moment on, I realized that working from home was definitely my thing—I didn’t have to deal with the stress of being out on the street, I didn’t have to interact with people face-to-face, and I could take care of my work from the comfort of my home while also handling other things around the house. For me, it’s the best.
Sé que mi pensamiento quizás no es el mejor, ya que como seres humanos por naturaleza necesitamos socializar, conocer personas nuevas, etc., pero yo soy bastante feliz asi, sin tener interacciones incomodas, hacer amigos ya es bastante complicado y al final los compañeros de trabajo son pasajeros, cuando alguno de los dos se va, jamás se hablan de nuevo (o al menos asi me paso a mi VARIAS veces)
Desde ese entonces he trabajado de diferentes maneras en internet y me ha ayudado bastante, aunque actualmente no estoy trabajando, he buscado pero no tengo suerte en que me llamen, incluso he intentado buscar trabajos que no sean remotos y tampoco he tenido suerte. Supongo que es cuestión de paciencia y constancia.
I know my way of thinking might not be the best, since as human beings we naturally need to socialize, meet new people, and so on, but I’m pretty happy this way—without awkward interactions. Making friends is complicated enough, and in the end, coworkers are just passing through; when one of us leaves, we never speak to each other again (or at least that’s happened to me SEVERAL times).
Since then, I’ve worked in various ways online, and it’s helped me a lot. Although I’m not currently working—I’ve looked for jobs but haven’t had any luck getting calls back—I’ve also tried looking for non-remote jobs and haven’t had any luck there either. I guess it’s just a matter of patience and persistence.

Sí, definitivamente tu tiempo se puede manejar de mejor manera asi ya que te ahorras ese tiempo que tardarías en llegar al trabajo y viceversa, tampoco quiero pintar el trabajo remoto como la verdad absoluta y lo mejor del mundo pero es cierto que te da un poco mas de autonomía, siempre debemos tener en cuenta que esa no es solo la clave del éxito, tambien el éxito esta en nuestra disciplina y orden para que el equilibrio entre trabajo y hogar no sea un problema en ninguno momento.
Yes, You can definitely manage your time better this way, since you save the time it would take to commute to and from work. I don’t want to paint remote work as the be-all and end-all or the best thing in the world, but it’s true that it gives you a little more autonomy. We must always keep in mind that this isn’t the only key to success; success also depends on our discipline and organization, so that the work-life balance isn’t a problem at any time.

Oh my, four hours in the evening getting home at 10 pm, that is too long a commute. I was fortunate to get a position at a health facility under 6 kms from my home. One time I did some office work but it wasn't secretary but information and project type of following up work.

Trabajar desde casa o asistir a la oficina son dinámicas completamente diferentes y estoy convencida de que hay tareas que se desempeñan perfectamente bien en cada uno de los dos casos. La socialización es parte de la dinámica, somos seres sociales y aunque eso no se traduzca a generar amistades, es una acción que se genera porque trabajamos por la gente y para la gente. Sé que hay trabajos en donde cuesta ver esto así porque creemos que nuestra labor se limita a acciones que no están relacionadas, pero sí, todo tiene que ver con nuestro desarrollo y desenvolvimiento en sociedad. Lo amigos, eso es otro tema. Espero que pronto encuentres una oferta que se adapte a lo que buscas; mientras esperas una buena idea es estudiar, el conocimiento nunca pasará de moda y de este modo ganarás nuevas habilidades y competencias sensibles a lo que la necesidad actual laboral está demandando. Te comparto esta anécdota, viejisima pero buenísima jajaja una persona trabajaba como vigilante en la NASA y alguien le preguntó cuál era su trabajo y él respondió: ayudo a llevar a un hombre a la luna.
