LoH 260: Superwoman's Advice!

Hi lovely ladies of hive. I hope we are doing well. It's my pleasure to be with you here again. It's weekly prompt 260 and I have come to share the best advice have ever received from a strong woman. Yes, I have received so much advice but the best of them was that I should not marry out of pity. Hmm, this advice came at a very crucial stage of my life.
It came at a time when I wanted to marry but I was so confused. The man on my neck was 15:years older than me. He loved me so much and could do anything for me. The problem there was not even about age but that I didn't have any feeling for him, but he had made so much effort, just to be with me. He would even run the errand I didn't send him, just to impress me. So, at a point, I started having compassion on him. I couldn't watch him helplessly beg for love any longer. Even though I didn't have such love for him, I wanted to go ahead and marry him.

My heart was so heavy and I poured it out to a woman, near my house, who advised me to have a rethink and not marry out of pity. She said love shouldn't be one sided but a mutual thing between husband and wife. She made me realize that there's nothing he would do in marriage that would please me if I don't love him. She said that might in turn be the genesis of problems in the marriage. She advised me to pray and seek the Lord's face, that God would guide me. Yes, that was the best advice I had ever received and followed from a strong woman. Today, the man and I didn't marry each other eventually since the love was not mutual and I got no conviction in my spirit, but we are both happy where we are.

Thankfully for the advice, and I can boldly say it came from a strong woman, even though she seemed ordinary, a neighbour. You know, strong woman doesn't have to be a public figure, a celebrity or someone we consider powerful in the society. To me, the strong woman can be a next door neighbor, a petty trader who is decisive and not easy to manipulate. My own definition of strong woman is that person that stands tall in the midst of challenges. That woman that is resilient, that woman that seeks the face of God in all she does. It is that woman is led by God. My strong woman is that person that makes lemonade from lemon and that woman that builds her home and nurtures it. It was indeed the best advice from a strong woman.
