My Proudest Moments - #251

Living through a few decades, I had held onto some things to carry through my existence here in life, which is being courageous and faithful.

As simple as these two looked in calling, they had taken me through some level of success in both good and bad way. I mean bad way in the sense that, I wasn't aiming to achieve something but I was being aimed at to be oppressed which I overcame because I was faithful.

One of the precious moments I had which seems special was a moment where I was elevated, praised and lifted like I won a presidential election of a tertiary institution because I was courageous, but this was actually when I was in primary school.
My school was founded by a popular church and the management decided to make a marketing strategy to the members and first time attendees by showcasing the pupils in one of the special programs with one of the pupils to read the speech.

This speech reading was supposed to be done by the senior class from 3-5 of while we pupils from the nursery to primary 2 are meant to just dance to the stage just for appearance sake but unfortunately, the whole plan fell on the day the seniors went out on a competition and the whole plan flopped as only the selected pupils from nursery and primary 2 were the ones available.

Every other pupil being tried to read would either get stucked at a point of big words from the speech since the speech was meant for the senior pupils and not prepared for us to practice before or can't read it at all.
I wasn't allowed to read because of my denomination but I was selected at the end of the day to read despite the discrimination since there was no other option.

Unfortunately, I was unable to read through to where others were getting stucked before we were called on stage since time has been wasted on getting solution to the situation on ground.
On entering the auditorium, we were received to the podium by a very large audience with shouts and clap which got us dumbfounded, me especially.

My courage to speak went off as that was the first time I'll be facing such huge crowd unlike the few parents and fellow pupils for our school events.
My legs and hands shaking but then I reminded myself of how courageous I should be, not disappointing myself, parents, my class teacher and headmistress who believed in me to do this and my school as a whole.
Then I started reading from the first line to the second line and then to the part I was unable to read before we were called.

I proceeded to reading with the courage I had gathered from the very first line , I also remembered how others were corrected on the grammars, how we had been taught on pronouncing words and writing for English dictation. Luckily, I was able to read the speech with the whole congregation giving us a standing ovation even before the end of the speech, shouting and clapping at the kind of speech we just presented to them.

That was when the happiness came that I had made my school proud. It won't have been a great memory or moment if it happened when I was in a senior class, expected to have been okay enough to read such speech but because I was so little then and still bursted the whole bubbles.

Since then, no matter what may come my way, either good or the opposite, I learn to be courageous since my fear won't solve anything but make my problems worse but my courage had always get things solved, making it on

Looking at my word count, I think the second moment may be for another day as I'll be dropping my 🖊️ here on the ladiesofhive community prompt on my proudest moments.

Thanks for reading through 🤗

Wow, reading this felt like being in the crowd clapping for that nervous kid who suddenly found her voice. You were tiny, thrown into the deep end and still stood there, heart pounding and did it. That kind of unexpected courage, especially when you were the last pick and facing that sea of people? Pure magic. And the standing ovation? It wasn’t just applause. It was the moment fear took a backseat and you got to own that stage before most would even notice. That memory isn’t just proud, it is fuel for when life pushes hard. Thanks for laying that out so honestly.

Wow, I'd be too nervous to get up on a stage to read to a huge audience. I admire those who can do that alone. My English writing skills after high school was very bad that I could not go to college right of way.

It takes courage to achieve any iota of success so I'll say you had a great courage as well working to get your English writing skills good to proceed to college
